Reston Mill at Staveley Nr Windermere is a spacious cottage with a hot tub and games room, set in a lovely location ideal for large gatherings. The property offers a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable bedding, and is dog-friendly. Guests have enjoyed the local amenities and the property's proximity to the Lake District's attractions.
The property's cleanliness has received mixed feedback. While some guests found it clean and tidy, others noted issues with dust, cobwebs, and a smell of dampness. The outdoor areas and hot tub maintenance were also mentioned as needing improvement.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to local amenities and the Lake District, with a lovely village, pub, and park nearby. However, some guests noted road noise as a downside.
Guests found the beds comfortable and the property spacious for large groups. However, some rooms were reported as too hot or too cold, and the living room furniture was described as needing an update for better comfort.
Facilities like the hot tub, games room, and kitchen equipment were appreciated, but several guests reported maintenance issues such as broken appliances and furniture. The garden and outdoor furniture also require attention.
While some guests mentioned welcome packs with tea, coffee, and biscuits, there is not enough information to assess the consistency of such gestures or other thoughtful touches across all stays. Therefore, a score cannot be provided.
"Staveley is a vibrant Lakeland community, rather than primarily a tourist destination. The pretty village lies at the gateway to the Kentmere Valley, right between Kendal and Windermere. Staveley is alive with artisan crafts, live music, and art galleries, and it's also an absolute treat for foodies. Also within the village is the Eagle & Child Inn – a popular place for a hearty meal, with a pretty riverside beer garden. All of these destinations are accessible by foot and only a 10 minute walk from the house. You'll have to try them all! Heading out of the village, and just a 15 minute walk, is a micro brewery and traditional Lakeland pub, the Watermill Inn at Ings, offering up to 16 locally brewed ales to accompany food served in their restaurant. Reston Mill is a great cottage for those seeking accommodation for families or groups of friends, sleeping ten people in six bedrooms this property offers plenty of space to relax and socialise, and is an ideal base for exploring the Lake District, on foot, by car or on two wheels. As you enter the Lake District the village of Staveley has become increasingly popular in recent years with its very own brewery, great local pubs, artisan bakery, and village shop. Also home to the UK's largest cycle store, Staveley is popular with cyclists of all grades and the neighbouring Kentmere Valley offers fantastic walking ranging from gentle rambles to strenuous fell top hikes. Spread over two floors Reston Mill offers good quality accommodation set within lovely gardens and is complimented with a family size hot tub, a games room and plenty of parking."
The thriving Lakeland village of Staveley is situated on the eastern fringes of the Lake District National Park and offers superb access to the whole region. The beautiful Kentmere Valley is just a short walk away and with the River Kent tumbling its way through the valley to Staveley, it is very popular with mountain bikers and walkers alike. Staveley Mill Yard is a former wood turning mill at the heart of the village, which is now a thriving tourist attraction with cycle hire and outdoor shops, artisan bakery, brewery and the renowned Wilf's Cafe. This complements the excellent range of amenities in the village, which include a variety of shops, two village pubs, craft shops, a children's playground, a regular bus service and a railway station. Close by, the bustling towns of Kendal, Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including a ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The 'Windermere Steamboat Museum' displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. Within easy reach of Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains, Staveley is ideally situated for exploring all that the region has to offer.

20 degrees . it took till saturday to warm up adequately. The bin outside was already overflowing so when we left we had no choice but to put bags by the bin. The CD/Radio was broken. The house itself was lovely and clean ( barring a few spider webs) could have done with an idiots guide book to the house . wifi code, heating, where to catch buses etc.

My whole family had a fabulous break here and are looking to return next year. Only 1 negative, there was an accumulation of bin bags in and around the bin (likely due to collection day on Tuesdays) but, should be cleared prior to arrivals.

As there was 10 Adults and 2 Dogs we thought the property would be a little small, but we should not have been worried as there was enough room, and no feeling of crowding was felt. The Hot tub was great, we think it does need a better light outside. As for the general feed back, the facilities at the property are exelent, with new appliences evident, the fridge could do with a replacement allthough the back of the fridge was freezing the items inside did not seem so cold. In places the property is in need of an updating ie, some of the bedrooms to bring it up to the next star rating. Also there is an information folder in the kitchen but no basic info like, Wi Fi password, what to do to operate the hot tub, what is arround the property like shops, pubs ect. Also we did struggle to find Reston Mill as there are many Reston named properties around and when asked in the village were sent back and forth. hen all that was needed was a note to clients " if entering Danes road from the top of the village its the first driveway on the right and if entering from the bottom of the village its the last drive on the left. But we would still give the property 100% and look forward to maybe re booking. Many thanks
