Guests generally appreciate the spaciousness, comfort, and amenities such as the hot tub and games room at Reston Mill. The property's location in Staveley is praised for its proximity to local attractions and the village's charm. While some guests have raised concerns about cleanliness and maintenance, the welcoming touches like the welcome packs have been well-received.
Reviews on cleanliness are mixed, with several guests finding the property to be clean and tidy, particularly the beds and bathrooms. However, others noted issues with dust, cobwebs, and outdoor cleanliness, suggesting room for improvement in this area.
The location is highly regarded for its convenience to local amenities and attractions in the Lake District. The village of Staveley is mentioned positively, although some guests noted the proximity to a main road as a downside.
The property is frequently described as comfortable, with a spacious kitchen, large dining table, and cosy living areas. Beds are mostly reported as comfy, though some guests mentioned disparities in room temperatures and the need for darker curtains in some bedrooms.
Facilities like the hot tub, games room, and well-equipped kitchen are highlights for many guests. However, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as broken furniture, a leaking shower, and the need for updates in some areas.
While guests have mentioned welcome packs with tea, coffee, and biscuits, there is insufficient information to determine if such gestures are consistent or to assess the overall thoughtfulness of the host. Therefore, a score cannot be provided.
"Staveley is a vibrant Lakeland community, rather than primarily a tourist destination. The pretty village lies at the gateway to the Kentmere Valley, right between Kendal and Windermere. Staveley is alive with artisan crafts, live music, and art galleries, and it's also an absolute treat for foodies. Also within the village is the Eagle & Child Inn – a popular place for a hearty meal, with a pretty riverside beer garden. All of these destinations are accessible by foot and only a 10 minute walk from the house. You'll have to try them all! Heading out of the village, and just a 15 minute walk, is a micro brewery and traditional Lakeland pub, the Watermill Inn at Ings, offering up to 16 locally brewed ales to accompany food served in their restaurant. Reston Mill is a great cottage for those seeking accommodation for families or groups of friends, sleeping ten people in six bedrooms this property offers plenty of space to relax and socialise, and is an ideal base for exploring the Lake District, on foot, by car or on two wheels. As you enter the Lake District the village of Staveley has become increasingly popular in recent years with its very own brewery, great local pubs, artisan bakery, and village shop. Also home to the UK's largest cycle store, Staveley is popular with cyclists of all grades and the neighbouring Kentmere Valley offers fantastic walking ranging from gentle rambles to strenuous fell top hikes. Spread over two floors Reston Mill offers good quality accommodation set within lovely gardens and is complimented with a family size hot tub, a games room and plenty of parking."
The thriving Lakeland village of Staveley is situated on the eastern fringes of the Lake District National Park and offers superb access to the whole region. The beautiful Kentmere Valley is just a short walk away and with the River Kent tumbling its way through the valley to Staveley, it is very popular with mountain bikers and walkers alike. Staveley Mill Yard is a former wood turning mill at the heart of the village, which is now a thriving tourist attraction with cycle hire and outdoor shops, artisan bakery, brewery and the renowned Wilf's Cafe. This complements the excellent range of amenities in the village, which include a variety of shops, two village pubs, craft shops, a children's playground, a regular bus service and a railway station. Close by, the bustling towns of Kendal, Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including a ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The 'Windermere Steamboat Museum' displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. Within easy reach of Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains, Staveley is ideally situated for exploring all that the region has to offer.

The house worked well in terms of seating, cooking and eating. The beds were very comfortable. There was some mould on an outer wall in one of the bedrooms that needs attention. The carpets were grubby and the whole place could do with a deep clean. I had rung Sykes to enquire about the bedding - one of our party has a feathers allergy - but there was no response via the chat and it was impossible to get anyone on the phone. All bedding was synthetic by the way but these things should be declared.

Ideally located and had everything we needed. Bed rooms were clean and everyone had plenty of room . Social areas were well maintained and again didnât feel cramped. Hot tub could easily fit 5-6 people and local supermarkets could deliver to property meaning weâre could shop before we arrived. Would definitely recommend booking.

20 degrees . it took till saturday to warm up adequately. The bin outside was already overflowing so when we left we had no choice but to put bags by the bin. The CD/Radio was broken. The house itself was lovely and clean ( barring a few spider webs) could have done with an idiots guide book to the house . wifi code, heating, where to catch buses etc.
